You chose me!

Some songs are written because there is a story to tell. Others are written because there are things that have been left unsaid for far too long. You Chose Me is the latter. Every Penny from sales goes to Cancer Research UK This deeply personal release from Crimson Ruin was created for their producer, Andy Hornby of AH Music, and is dedicated to Colin - the man Andy has considered his father for most of his life. After Colin was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, Andy found himself confronting something many of us are guilty of: assuming there will always be another opportunity to tell the people who shaped our lives exactly what they mean to us. For Andy, there were decades of gratitude that had never really been put into words. Colin came into his life when Andy was just eight years old. He wasn't his biological father and had no obligation to take on that role, but over the years he became the father Andy needed. He protected him through an extremely difficult childhood, later took him in and helped raise him, and became one of the defining influences on the person Andy eventually became. More than forty years after they first met, that relationship remains as important as ever. Colin's cancer diagnosis gave Andy a reason to finally stop leaving those words for another day. You Chose Me became his way of saying thank you. Thank you for being there. Thank you for stepping in. Thank you for the years, the guidance, the laughter and everything that followed. Most of all, thank you for choosing to be a father when you never had to be. Crimson Ruin were given the privilege of taking something intensely personal to the man behind their music and giving it a voice. But Andy also wanted the release to mean something beyond his own family. Every penny generated by You Chose Me will be donated to Cancer Research UK, helping fund research into a disease affecting Colin and countless other families. For Crimson Ruin and AH Music, this isn't simply another release. It's a thank you that should have been said years ago. It's a tribute to a dad. and grand-father. And it's a way of making those words count while there is still time to say them.
